Day 01 /01 Oct:  Check-In for flight Sydney/Melbourne for Amman via Abu Dhabi /Dubai

Depart Melbourne

 

Day 02/ 02 Oct: AMMAN/MT. NEBO/ MADABA/AMMAN

Meet and assist upon arrival QAIA by airport representative and professional license English speaking Catholic guide. Start the day with visit to Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land before he died. Pass by Madaba to visit the Orthodox monastery of St. George that hosts the unique mosaic Map of Egypt, Jordan, and the Holy Land. The map is believed to be the first one for this area going back to the 6th century A.D. Transfer to hotel for check in and overnight (L, D)

 

Day 03/ 03 Oct : AMMAN/ PETRA/AMMAN

Breakfast.   A full day excursion to the lost Nabatean City of Petra – the most spectacular ancient city remaining today and made famous by the “Indiana Jones” movie. Enjoy a horse-ride through the picturesque Siq and visit the Treasury, Royal Tombs and Roman Theater. Return to Amman in the early evening for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

 

Day 04/ 04 Oct : AMMAN/ SHEIKH HUSSEIN BORDER/ BET SHE’AN/ NAZARETH

Breakfast. Check out of hotel. Drive down the Jordan Valley to cross Sheikh Hussein border into Israel. Proceed to visit ancient Bet She’an, remains of the Roman-Byzantine city, a complex of ruins and columns as well as one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in Israel. Transfer to hotel for check in and dinner. (B, L, D)

 

Day 05/ 05 Oct : BANIAS/BEATITUDES/BOATRIDE / MULTIPLICATION/ CAPERNAUM/NAZARETH

Breakfast. Drive to upper Galilee to visit Banias, site of ancient Caesarea Philippi where Jesus demanded to know of His disciples who people were saying He was. Later, have a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Lunch of St. Peter’s fish (tilapia). Drive to Capernaum, the town where the 30-year old Jesus settled after leaving Nazareth. View the remains of the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught. Onward to Tabgha, the miracle of the multi-plication of the barley loaves and fish took place. Drive on to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount and the church of St. Peter’s Primacy. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B, L, D)

 

Day 06/ 06 Oct : CANA/ ANNUNCIATION/MARY’S WELL/ MT. TABOR/ MEGIDDO/NAZARETH 

Breakfast. Start the day with visit to Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle when He turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana. (Those who wish to renew their Wedding vows at the Church). Proceed to Nazareth to visit Basilica of the Annunciation where the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary the birth of Jesus Christ. Visit also St. Joseph’s workshop and home of the Holy Family. After lunch, we visit Mt. Tabor. It is believed by many Christians to be the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Afterwards we proceed to Megiddo, named in the Book of Revelation as the setting for a future battle between the forces of good and evil. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

 

Day 07/ 07 Oct : HAIFA /MOUNT CARMEL-STELLA MARIS / BAHAI GARDEN/ CAESAREA MARITIMA / AQUEDUCT/ JAFFA /TLV/ BETHLEHEM

Breakfast. Check out of hotel. Drive to Haifa to visit Stella Maris Church where one can enjoy a panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and visit the Baha’i Gardens nearby. Continue down to Caesarea Maritima built by Herod the Great and catch sight of the aqueducts and the Roman theater. This is where St. Paul was imprisoned and where the first Gentile was baptized. Proceed to Jaffa to visit one of the oldest port cities in the world. Pass by TLV before heading to Bethlehem for check in to hotel for dinner and overnight (B, L, D)

 

Day 08/ 08 Oct : NATIVITY/ MILK GROTTO / SHEPERD’S FIELD/ HERODIAN PALACE/ BETHLEHEM

Breakfast. Visit the Church of Nativity, the traditional birthplace of Jesus, the Basilica and Grotto of the Nativity and the Manger Square. Visit also the Milk Grotto then drive to Shepherds’ Field, the site where the host of angel’s appeared to the shepherds to inform them how to find the manger where the baby Jesus was born. Next destination is Herodian Palace. Herod the Great built a fortress, a palace, and a small town in Herodium, between 23 and 15 BCE, and is believed to have been buried there. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

 

Day 09/ 09 Oct : OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM / MOUNT ZION

Early in the morning, transfer to the Old City of Jerusalem to walk the “Stations of the Cross” carrying a ross until we reach the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where Jesus was crucified, died, and rose from the dead to celebrate mass.  This is the highlight of the spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Later, we visit Mount Zion area to see the Upper Room where Jesus and His disciples had their Passover meal that was to be His last supper with His Apostles before the start of His agony in Gethsemane. See also King David’s tomb, the Dormition Abbey, and the Church of St. Peter in Galicantu. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

 

Day 10/ 10 Oct : MOUNT OF OLIVES; PALM SUNDAY ROAD / ABU GOSH / BETHLEHEM

Breakfast. Start the day with Mount of Olives—visit Church of Pater Noster to view the “Lord’s Prayer” written in several languages. Proceed to the church of Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Move on and continue walking down the Palm Sunday road to the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane to see the Rock of Agony, the place where Jesus prayed before soldiers came for Him. Next drive to Abu Gosh to visit the Crusaders church (Emmaus) ; The Church of Notre Dame de l’Arche de l’Alliance ; Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 11/ 11 Oct : BETHANY/ JERICHO/ JORDAN RIVER / DEAD SEA / WADI QELT / BETHLEHEM

Breakfast. Today we start visit to the church built on the traditional site of the House of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Then drive to Jericho, reputed to be the oldest town on earth, see Sycamore Tree where Zacchaeus, the tax collector climbed to see Jesus, View Mount of Temptation where Jesus Christ spent 40 days and nights fasting and where he was tempted by evil. Proceed to Qasr al Yahud Baptismal site. Next destination is the Dead Sea for dip in the lowest and saltiest spot on earth. Next stop is Wadi Qelt to view the St. George’s Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world. Transfer to Sheikh Hussein border for crossing into Amman. Farewell dinner. (B, L, D)
